Scotland's premier research library stages a major exhibition each summer and runs a year-round events programme, as well as a series of smaller exhibitions, workshops and education activities throughout the year.

Happy Birthday Miffy!
A celebration of the work of Dick Bruna
30 March - 3 June
Fifty years after Dick Bruna first sketched a cute white cartoon bunny to entertain his son, Miffy has become a much-loved icon of young childrens literature and merchandise across the globe. The Miffy books alone have sold over £80 million copies in over 40 countries. This travelling exhibition, offers children and adults alike plenty of interactive educational fun with puzzles, games, letter writing, puppeteering and more. This material is complemented by over 100 pieces of original artwork, other memorabilia and a documentary film reflecting on Brunas long and successful career.
The John Murray Archive
From Wednesday 26 June
The writers and thinkers of John Murrays publishing firm shaped the modern world through their works of literature, science, exploration and politics. Drawing on material from the John Murray Archive, this permanent exhibition uses state-of-the-art exhibition technology to bring to life the work and lives of a changing selection of the publishers most influential figures. Those featured in the first line-up include Lord Byron, Charles Darwin and David Livingstone.

Stories of Scotland and South Asia
Saturday 30 June Sunday 30 September
In commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Indian independence from British colonial rule, this exhibition will explore Scotlands involvement and influence in India over the centuries. Scottish soldiers, doctors, missionaries, traders, politicians and travellers all made their mark on India. Come along and hear their stories.
All exhibitions open Monday - Saturday 10 am - 5pm; Sunday 2pm - 5pm. Admission free. Disabled access via wheelchair lift.
