Claish Moss Nature Reserve

This is one of the best examples in Britain of a raised bog that has evolved over the last 8000 years.
The dome-shaped surface holds water up within the peat and a network of pools speckles the bog surface. Pollen grains that have survived in the peat provide a historical record of plantlife since the bog began to form.
