John Muir Trust, Isle of Skye

If you walk south from the Sligachan Hotel, the Cuillin main ridge is to your right. To your left is a succession of fine and varied hills -- Glamaig, Marsco, Garbh-bheinn, Sgurr nan Each and finally Bla Bheinn, one of Scotland's most celebrated and beautiful mountains. It is all JMT land. There are about 12,000 ha in all, and many miles of coast, for it continues down the Strathaird peninsula to Elgol. It doesn't include the Cuillin ridge, but takes in half of Loch Coruisk, in the heart of the Cuillin.

The estate is made up of : Torrin (first, in 1991), Strathaird (1994), and Sconser (1997). They sit between the Cuillin ridge and the Broadford area. The John Muir Trust purchased these three estates in the 1990's and they form part of the Red Cuillin and Black Cuillin mountain ranges on Skye.
