Edinburgh Zoo

EDINBURGH ZOO

The wildest visitor attraction in Scotland, this leading Zoo is home to over 1,000 rare and beautiful animals from around the world.

Edinburgh Zoo opened in 1913, in leafy hillside parkland just ten minutes from the centre of Edinburgh. Recognised as one of the world's leading zoos, Edinburgh Zoo is involved in many conservation breeding programmes, and gives the highest priority to the welfare, both physical and behavioural, of the animals in their care.

This year there are so many fascinating animals to visit at the Zoo! Whether you want visit our new state-of-art chimpanzee enclosure, Budongo Trail or touch the colours of the rainbow with our interactive, rainbow lorikeet enclosure, there is so much to see and do in a day at the Zoo.

You may wish to say g'day to the UK's only koalas or waddle with the penguins in the world famous Penguin Parade, or take a free scenic hilltop safari tour around the park, which not only gives superb views of the animals but also outstanding views of the city.

There are also numerous play areas for children, restaurants and a gift shop. With animal-handling sessions that give you an opportunity to get real close with some of the more friendly animals, and educational talks throughout the day, make sure you put a trip to Edinburgh Zoo on your calendar!

Open every day of the year, even Christmas day!
