Mossburn Animal Centre
Mossburn Animal Rescue Centre was originally set up in 1987 to provide help for misused, abused, unwanted and neglected horses and ponies as well as young people with physical and mental problems. This original remit was later widened, and we now care for all domestic animals except cats, dogs and donkeys which have their own specific charities. In addition we nurse and rehabilitate wildlife. Our aim is to enhance the lives on both animals and people through our animal rescue work.
We welcome visitors. Admission to Mossburn is free, but donations are gratefully received...... and much needed! Staff are always happy to show you around and allow you to interact with the animals.
We also have a Fostering Scheme whereby our animals can be fostered (perhaps a novel idea for a Christmas or Birthday present, especially if a youngster has met and become fond of a particular animal).
Mossburn provides rescue and shelter to a wide variety of animals including:
horses and ponies, pigs, goats, rabbbits and guienea pigs, ferrets, degus, iguanan, sheep, emus, cows, raccoons and many more who seek shelter. Our rabbbits have their very own village - Edinburrow, which is very popular, particularly with our younger visitors.
SHOP AND TEA ROOM
While you're here, visit our well stocked shop which has a large range of novelty items, antiques and bric-a-brac, huge selection of second hand books and our very own book 'Mac The Rabbit'. After browsing take time to sample the delicious refreshments available in our 'Rabbiton Tea Room', famous for its affordable meals and snacks.
MOSSBURN WORKSHOP
Meet Ian at the Mossburn Workshop. Ian makes high quality stables, loose boxes, field shelters and rabbit and guinea pig hutches - in fact animal housing. He has a proven track record of producing very high quality products at a reasonable price and Mossburn is delighted to be associated with him. His workshop has been newly opened and occupies one of our previously unused barns. All visitors are very welcome to meet Ian and view some of his craftsmanship.
