Eppie Callum's Oak
A natural landmark, this ancient oak is said to have once sheltered the notorious outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor (1671 -1734) from his enemies. Jacobite leader Bonnie Prince Charlie (1720-88) also apparently hid up inside the trunk. The 21metre(70ft) tree is named after the woman who once ran the nearby Oakbank Inn, a former favourite with cattle drovers from the Highlands. Eppie Callum's Oak is located very near to Lady Mary's Walk and MacRosty Park - both worth visiting for lovely walks, splendid trees and relaxation.
