Glenwhan Gardens

Glenwhan has been created over two decades from bog, rushes and gorse to win accolades as one of the best new gardens of recent times.
This 12-acre garden is certainly a garden for all seasons, from spring when azaleas and rhododendrons dazzle but throughout the summer when the gardens become a treasure trove of natural wonders, where not only beautiful plants bloom but wildlife including red squirrels abounds.
The warming effects of the Gulf Stream mean that exotic and tender plants from around the southern hemisphere flourish here, as do large collections of rare trees and shrubs. The focal point of these outstanding, family-run gardens centres round two small lakes which offer magnificent views across Luce Bay and to the Mull of Galloway.
Round off your visit with a trip to the tearoom which prides itself on its delicious home baking and tasty homemade soups - the secret to the great tasting soups is homegrown vegetables and the use of the freshest locally sourced produce wherever possible.
