Galloway House Gardens Trust

Situated in an idyllic position on the shores of Wigtown Bay on the Solway Firth, these historic seaside gardens were created in 1740 by Lord Garlies, elder son of the 6th Earl of Galloway.
Today the gardens offer a fascinating network of formal garden paths and informal natural woodland walks amidst superb scenery where a vast variety of interesting plants from dazzling wild flowers and shrubs to magnificent old trees thrive due to region's mild climate. In early spring the gardens are bright with snowdrops and daffodils, followed by a display of rhododendrons, azaleas and many fine trees and shrubs.
Take your time to relax and explore the beautiful woodland and seaside walks. The gardens and woodlands lead directly onto the seashore where you will find a beautiful sandy beach beyond which you can continue to follow the coastal path to the spectacular heights of Cruggleton Cliffs and the ruins of Cruggleton Castle.
