Village Glass
Tom Young is the original designer of all Village Glass products. Tom Young started Village Glass in 1979 with his wife, Elizabeth. Tom was originally a Scientific Glassblower and used his artistic design skills to create beautiful glassware. Tom decided to set up his own factory in Bridge of Allan, Stirlingshire, Central Scotland. Tom and his team enjoyed almost 20 years trading, supplying large department stores, overseas customers and the scientific market.
Tom uses the unique technique of lampworking. All the glass is hand blown, no moulds are used.
In 1993 daughter Karen joined the team and managed the retail and direct sell side of the business. In 1999 Village Glass moved into new High St premises. The new location also incorporates the glass studio and visitors can watch the glassware being made. Tom, Elizabeth and Karen enjoy their glass creations with as much enthusiasm as they have in making them.
Visitors are welcome to watch Tom at work throughout the year. At Christmas time it is possible for visitors to blow their own Christmas bauble for their Christmas tree. A unique experience for young and old.
