The Bishop's Glen

On higher ground at the back of the town is the Bishop's Glen. This was once the source of Dunoon's water supply, but with the opening in 1977 of the pumping station and filtration plant at the south end of Loch Eck, the Clyde coast area between Ardentinny and Toward is now supplied from this almost limitless source.
The Bishop's Glen is a favoured beauty spot and a delightful walk and can be entered either from the top of Nelson Street, the bridge at the head of Auchamore Road, or Kilbride Road. For the more energetic, there is a track leading on and upwards to the Bishop's Seat (1655ft).
