Hill of Alyth

Hill of Alyth

The word Alyth means `steep bank or rugged place` - with town and hill named as one.
Alyth is a traditional Scottish farming town and has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The Lossett Burn is an interesting feature running through the town centre.
Rising steeply on the northern edge of the burgh of Alyth this hill provides a brisk walk on farm tracks and across the open hill with panoramic views to the fertile farmlands of Strathmore and the Sidlaw Hills beyond. An indicator on the broad, grassy summit helps to explain the vista and there's a tiny lochan at the highest point of the route.
