Traquair has had an active community of craft workers in the grounds since 1974 when Flora Maxwell Stuart decided to turn some of the outbuildings around the house into workshops for self employed craft workers.
There are presently four craft workshops in the Old Stables, the groom's bothy, the tack room and the butler's bothy.
The workshops are open to the public during house opening hours but if you wish to visit a particular workshop you are advised to contact the individual business in advance:
