Culross Palace Townhouse & Study

Relive the domestic life of the 16th and 17th centuries amid the old buildings and cobbled streets of this fascinating Royal Burgh.

Explore the beautiful refurbished palace with its decorative painted ceilings and furnishings of the period.Behind the palace is the restored 17th century garden, complete with herbs, vegetables and fruit trees.

The Town House, once the legal and commercial centre of Culross, is also open to visitors as is the Study, where Bishop Leighton of Dunblane reputedly composed his sermons.

A DVD about Culross and its inhabitants can be viewed in the Palace.

Site owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland.

Opening Hours

Palace, Study, Town House and Study:
1 April to 31 May, Thur-Mon 12-5; 1 June to 30 August, daily 12-5; 2 September to 31 October,, Thur-Mon 12-5 (closes 4pm in October);

Access to the Study and Town House are by guided tour only. Tours depart from palace reception every hour. First tour departs 1pm, last tour departs 4pm. (During October, last tour departs 3pm.) Tours last approx 1 hour.

Garden: all year, daily 10-6 or sunset if earlier
