Ben Lomond

Rising from the east shore of Loch Lomond to a height of 974 m (3,193 ft), the Ben offers exhilarating walking and spectacular views in the heart of the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park. The property, comprising 2,173 ha (5,369 a), also includes the summits of Ptarmigan, 731m (2,397 ft), Sròn Aonaich, 577 m (1,892 ft), and Beinn Uird, 596 m (1,954 ft). An extensive repair programme has brought under control what was a major path erosion scar, and walkers can help by keeping to the surfaced path. Reductions in sheep numbers, and fenced enclosures on the lower slopes, are allowing the regeneration of woodland and upland heath habitats. Ranger Centre at Ardess. New information centre/toilet facility at Rowardennan car park, run and staffed by the Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, Scotlands first National Park, as of July 2002.
