Carn Mairg Range

Carn Gorm, Meall Garbh, Carn Mairg, Meall nan Aighean(Creag Mhor) are a range of hills on the north side of lower Glen Lyon, and form part of the 48,400 hectare Loch Rannoch and Glen Lyon National Scenic Area. The circuit of four broad and rolling Munros (Scottish mountains over 3000ft in height) offers good high level walking with panoramic views across Perthshire and beyond.
From the Gaelic their names are colourfully translated as: `blue hill`; `rough hill`; `hill of sorrow` and `hill of the hind` - so you'll have an idea of what to expect before you get there!
As the longest enclosed glen in Scotland, Glen Lyon feels like a world apart and is a great tonic for soul. The tiny settlement of Invervar is the best starting point for walkers where there is also a small parking area.
