Beinn Heasgarnich

Beinn Heasgarnich is a lonely Munro (Scottish mountain over 3000ft in height) in Perthshire's western extremity. Heasgarnich lies between the head of Glen Lochay and Loch Lyon and is a massive sprawling lump of a mountain often described as a `whaleback`. In more romantic vein, the Gaelic translation of the name yields: ` peak of the roaring waterfall of the horses` and, for those that care to explore the character of the mountain, there are `secret` waterfalls to delight the senses.
For Munro baggers, Creag Mhor (big peak) looms close by at the head of Glen Lochay, a steeper, more shapely mountain.
