John Paul Jones Cottage Museum & Visitor Centre

Discover more about the life and times of John Paul Jones, 'The Father of the American Navy' at the traditional cottage where he was born in 1747.
Now a museum, you can take the audio tour around the cottage, which is still furnished in the style of the 1700s, to discover the multi projector, audio visual programme which is presented in the beautifully reconstructed cabin of his ship Bonhomme Richard in which he defeated HMS Serapis off Flamborough Head, Yorkshire in 1779.
The visitor centre also boasts an impressive interpretive exhibition on his life, a small shop and pretty grounds. Why not make the most of the picnic area, where you can soak up stunning views of the Solway and the Lake District?
