The Wildfowl & Wetland Trust

Known as the Caerlaverock Wetland Centre, this spectacular 1,400 acre wild reserve is situated on the north Solway Coast.
If you are visiting between October to April, tens of thousands of Svalbard barnacle geese, swans and other birds can be seen from comfortable hides and observation towers around the site. In summer, meander through flower meadows, watch ospreys hunting over the Solway and even spot barn owls and badgers if staying overnight in the charming self-catering farmhouse. Special events include free daily wildlife safaris and family events.
The onsite conference centre houses exhibitions featuring beautiful ceramics and paintings by local artists so why not purchase a piece to remind you of your time in this beautiful corner of Scotland? There is also a gift shop which stocks an extensive selection of books on natural history and sustainable living for you to browse as well as a good selection of the latest binoculars and telescopes, children’s gifts and a variety of bird feeders and bird food.
The centre’s fair-trade coffee shop stocks a good selection of specialty coffees and teas, delicious homemade cakes, soup of the day, sandwiches/toasties and paninis as well as a variety of snacks.
