Knockshinnoch Lagoons

A former industrial site including a coal shale bing with young birch woodland, open grassland and unvegetated spoil. The bing has a good path, and from it visitors can view areas of open water, marsh and mud which attract a range of bird species
Species - Otter, Water vole. Water Rail, Ducks, Waders, Heron. Greater Butterfly Orchid, Moonwort.
Location - Adjacent to New Cumnock in East Ayrshire. Access is from the town or the car park on the B741. New Cumnock has a railway station.
