Lower Nethan Gorge

The Nethan Gorge, lined here with densely wooded slopes and meadows, holds some of the best semi-natural woodland still surviving in the Clyde Valley, and is of great importance for nature conservation. Excellent views of the reserve can be seen from Craignethan Castle.
Species - Kingfisher, dipper, grey wagtail. Wood club-rush, great horsetail, giant bellflower, broad-leaved helleborine and wood melick
Location - The reserve lies just west of the village of Crossford four miles west-north-west of Lanark.
