South Bantaskine Estate Public Park
Former estates of Bantaskine stretched from existing slopes below Arnothill to Falkirk's wooded high ground to the south, because of its elevation providing dramatic views across the canal, railway and town to the Firth of Forth and the hills of Fife beyond. North Bantaskine House was home to the Laird of Bantaskine who played an important part in Falkirk's early history. This house was demolished in 1950s which was built by John Wilson, coalmaster, to accommodate his wife and 8 daughters, or, as he put it forty feet of daughters. The walled garden and the gates are the only remains of part of this public park. The stained glass from the main stair of the house is now in the Howgate Shopping Centre in Falkirk.
