Belleisle Park

Belleisle Estate is one of the most popular family attractions within South Ayrshire. A traditional cheap family day out, enjoyed by all generations, many grandparents now take their grandchildren as their's did when they were children. The property has been owned by the local council since bought by Ayr Burgh in 1926.
At the heart of Belleisle the beautiful 18th century house is now used as an hotel, set within a typical estate landscape of woods, which give it a tranquil setting.
Belleisle is synonomous with golf having an 18-hole golf course designed by Mr. James Braid.
The gardens of Belleisle Estate offer plenty of open lawn area to play and picnic in front of Belleisle House, with further grassy areas to play ball games near the play park. The setting for many wedding photographs over the years the gardens provide a mass of colour in all seasons. There are several less common tree specimens throughout the park, which provide focal points and the flowerbeds are always well tended and provide a blaze of colour. There is a beautifully cared for walled garden containing a heather garden, fishpond, manicured lawns and plenty of benches to rest on in the sun or shade. The conservatory provides a tranquil area to relax amid the warmth and enjoy the exotic perfumes and vibrant colours of the many varieties of hothouse plants and shrubs grown there. Occasionally throughout the summer you may have recitals by musicians or open-air performances on the lawn in front of Belleisle House.
Younger visitors are catered for with the popular "Pets Corner" which is home to pigs, ducks, doves, rabbits, guinea pigs, chipmunks, aviary birds, with deer, ponies and donkeys in the deer park. Many an hour has been enjoyed feeding carrots and greens to the small animals and grass and apples to the deer, signs are posted where feeding is not appropriate. There is a fishpond and fountain in the walled gardens. The play park offers further fun, with climbing frames, balancing beams and swings.
South Ayrshire Council operates this attraction, which is within a few miles of Glasgow Prestwick International Airport, Turnberry, Burns Cottage, Culzean Castle, Dundonald Castle, Royal Troon Golf Course, Old Prestwick Golf Course, Ayr Racecourse, Ayr Low Green, Craigie Estate and Rozelle Estate.
