Alford Valley Railway

Enjoy a unique trip through the rural village of Alford on the Alford Valley Railway. Opened in 1980 Scotlands first 2 narrow gauge passenger railway transports visitors from the restored Alford Station to the peaceful picturesque Haughton Country Park.
Passengers can spend the day at Haughton Country Park and enjoy the many walks round the 40 hectare park. You can also visit the historic battle of Alford site where James Graham, 1st Marquis of Montrose fought the covenanters in a battle to win the Civil War on 2nd July 1645.
Train services run regularly throughout the summer months from April - September and bookings are recommended for larger groups. In the lead up to Chrismas the Alford Valley Railway offers their 'Santa Specials' where children get to meet Santa in his Station Grotto, enjoy festive carol singing and take a ride on the decorated train.
