River Girvan

This 28-mile river passes through the villages of Straiton, Kirkmichael and Dailly en-route to the Firth of Clyde. The river rises in Loch Braden in the Galloway Forest Park and flows towards the coast through the village of Kirkmichael. The river offers affordable fishing for all ages.

Over the years the river has seen a comeback of the Sea Trout especially for the night fisher. Sea Trout come into the river from March -June with a run of mature fish in September. A mandatory 12-inch limit is in operation for sea trout and in October all hen fish must be returned to the water. The river has several holding pools for salmon and larger sea trout which stretch for ¾ mile downstream from Enoch Farm.
