The Corryvreckan Whirlpool is situated off the west coast of Scotland between the islands of Jura and Scarba. It is one of the largest permanent whirlpools on earth and the most dangerous stretch of water around the British isles. It is said that at certain times the roar is so loud that it can be heard ten miles away.
