Loch an Daimh

Loch an Daimh

A windswept and interesting loch at the end of the single track road in upper Glen Lyon. Lovers of wild country will enjoy the rough walk around the shores of Loch an Daimh -aptly translated from the Gaelic as Loch of the Stag. Go in October and you might be lucky enough to experience the haunting sound of stags roaring in the rut. Loch an Daimh is hemmed in on three sides by high hills and to the south lies the splendid Munro called Stuchd an Lochain, with a tiny lochan high in its corrie.
The mountainous terrain and higher than average rainfall of this region combine to create favourable conditions for the production of hydro-electric power and the loch is part of the Breadalbane Scheme. Angling is available on the loch. For walkers there are many Munros, Corbetts and low level options. Contact Aberfeldy Tourist Information Centre for full details.
