The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust (HWDT) is dedicated to enhancing knowledge and understanding of Scotland’s whales, dolphins and porpoises
(cetaceans) and the Hebridean marine environment through education, research and working within local communities as a basis for the lasting conservation of local species and habitats.
The HWDT ethos is centered around research and education.
Our competent research team have played an integral role in producing scientific publications and attend global conferences to update the scientific community of our findings.
Our dedicated education department visit schools to deliver their well received program to students of all ages.
HWDT encourage people to assist with their valuable research by participating in our cetacean surveys onboard our fully equipped yacht. You will be trained in visual and acoustic survey methods, learn some sailing skills and experience the breath taking scenery.
You can also help HWDT by becoming a member, name a minke whale or sponsor a cetacean.
