Dumbarnie Links

Dumbarnie Links is a small area of calcareous dune grassland in the centre of Largo Bay on the south coast of Fife. It is part of one of the largest remaining calcareous dune systems in western Scotland and features a typical range of dune habitats. The dune grassland is rich in lime because of the fragments of seashells in the sand. This enables the growth of many plants that need these special conditions. A wide variety of birds use the reserve and there is an enormous diversity of invertebrate life including several butterfly species.
