CairnGorm Mountain Railway near Aviemore
Rarest, highest, windiest, coldest... the Cairngorms is a mountain range of extremes and the mountain railway is your gateway to this ancient glacial landscape.....
Cairn Gorm Mountain is Britain's 6th highest mountain and lies 9 miles east of Aviemore, just off the A9 to Inverness in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
Discover this mountain in a variety of unforgettable ways....
Take the train in safety and comfort up to the Top Station 1097m above sea level, and experience the impact of altitude on the weather, the landscape and the spectacular views. Alternatively walk up to the top and relax on the train coming down, enjoying the spectacular scenery as you descend.
You can also enjoy a guided walk with one of our rangers until the end of October 2011. The Walk @ The Top is a 90 minute guided walk starting from the Top Station and goes on a circular route to the summit. Our ranger team covers a fascinating range of topics and the walks are suitable for most walking abilities from family groups, novice to expert.
Finally you may prefer to explore the mountain at your own pace in your own time using our self-guided trails network.
Once you are at the top, enjoy lunch at the Ptarmigan Restaurant, the highest restaurant in the land above 3000ft. Or visit us any Thursday in July or August for a Highland Fling Ceilidh Night. A 3 course Highland buffet, followed by ceilidh dancing is a night for all the family to enjoy.
The Ptarmigan Restaurant is also available for private hire for weddings, dinners and anniversaries. We have a civil and religious wedding license and our dedicated team will help you create a unique and memorable event.
