Old Buittle Tower
Old Buittle Tower, located off A745 one mile west of Dalbeattie, is the home of The Borderers, a Living History group who portray the history and way of life of the Border Reivers. The Reivers were brigands who operated in the lands adjacent to the Scotland-England border from the early 11th Century to the early years of the 17th Century. The group, however, depicts them as they would have been in the 16th Century, when they were at the height of their powers. Now restored by the current owner and open for specific events during the year which include re-enactments and black powder shoots.
