Forestry Commission Scotland -Monaughty Forest

Torrieston Walks, South West of Elgin, are quite a spectacular sight in the late autumn.

The huge Douglas Fir trees planted in 1921, with their dark green foliage, contrast with the yellow, orange, and russet of the nearby birches, beech and oak. On the lower trails cherry blossom in spring and rowan berries in autumn make this a year round attraction. Climb up through majestic Douglas Fir and Scots Pine on Heldon Hill for great views out across the Moray Firth. From the south facing slopes, look out across the lovely Vale of Pluscarden and down to Pluscarden Abbey.
For an easy going walk, cross the road to join the excellent All Abilities trail leading you to the tranquil waters of the Black Burn.

Walks start from Torrieston car park on the Pluscarden road, 1 mile west of Miltonduff.
