Finnart's Bay

Finnart's Bay

Situated on the shingle shores of Loch Ryan, Finnart's Bay gives a wonderful view of the Rinns of Galloway. The cliffs past Garry Point to the north are excellent for experienced climbers, but there is limited access for walkers, even at low tide. The bay gives impressive low-level views of the Stranraer/Cairnryan ferries to Northern Ireland. Behind the bay is a large pine forest, with several small lochs, pretty burns and a standing stone relic. There is a beautiful walk along the Water of App, which runs into the bay, with an interesting old humpbacked bridge.

Access to the area south of the bay requires caution due to the rocky nature of the terrain. The car park has a path that leads directly onto the beach, and there is a small patch of grass with several picnic tables for a cosy lunch with the family. Fishing is permitted in the area surrounding the bay. Operated by South Ayrshire Council.
