Bruce's Stone

Located 6 miles west of New Galloway, this granite boulder on Moss Rapploch commemorates Robert the Bruce victory over an English army in 1307 during the Scottish Wars of Independence.
Today the stone has a more peaceful setting and from it, you can enjoy superb views of Loch Troll and the Galloway Hills. For the more active. the stone is also a recommended starting spot for the challenging walk up Merrick (2764 feet), the highest mountain in southern Scotland.
