The Tenement House

Step back in time to explore this Victorian flat from 1892, where little has changed since the early 20th-century.
Glasgow, more than any Scottish city, is associated with tenements.
This first-floor flat is a typical late Victorian example, consisting of four rooms and retaining most of its original features such as its bed recesses, kitchen range, coal bunker and bathroom.
The furniture, furnishings and personal possessions of Miss Agnes Toward, who lived here for over fifty years, present a fascinating picture of domestic life at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Tenement House is in Glasgow city centre and is easily acessible by foot. It is at 145 Buccleuch Street, north west of Sauchiehall Street pedestrian shopping area.
The Tenement House is in the care of the National Trust for Scotland.
Opening Hours
1 March to 31 Oct, daily 1-5.
