Weaver's Cottage
This typical handloom weavers cottage, built in 1723, houses the last of the 800 looms working in this village in the 1830s, now in use again to weave traditional fabrics.
Visitors, especially children, are welcome to try the old skills of weaving, pirn winding and spinning. Upstairs, locally woven shawls cover the box beds, and 19th-century domestic items present an appealing display. Plants and herbs used to make natural dyes are a feature of the attractive cottage garden.
DVD presentation on the villages links with the production of Paisley shawls.
