Cruachan The Hollow Mountain Power Station

Discover the heart of the hollow mountain.
Hidden deep within the mountain of Ben Cruachan on the shores of Loch Awe is Cruachan Power Station.
Here, a short distance from Oban, you can discover one of the hidden wonders of the highlands. A power station buried one kilometer below the ground. A short coach journey will transport you into the mountain and at its centre
lies a massive cavern, high enough to house the Tower of London! Here enormous turbines convert the power of water into electricity, available to
you in your own home at the flick of a switch.
The hollow mountain is a place like no other. An underground world on a spectacular scale!
Back on the surface the experience continues in a visitor centre with many things to see and do.
The Exhibition, including interactive touch screens, gives everyone the chance to find out how the power station operates and demonstrates the way
in which power will be generated well into the future.
You can finish your trip with a visit to the lochside cafeteria and gift shop while enjoying the stunning beauty of Loch Awe.
Cruachan is a fantastic day out for all the family.
