Stanley Hill
Also known as Schoochie Hill, this small, woodland park lies on the edge of the village of Dunkeld and consists of a landscaped and terraced mound created by the 2nd Duke of Atholl around 1730.
Stanley Hill is an important man-made element of the designed landscape of Dunkeld Estate and it originally formed a decorative backdrop to an earlier residence of the Duke of Atholl. There is an ice house built into one side of the hill and this was used as a latter day fridge/freezer to store meat and game for the Duke's table!
Today the park is enjoyed as a quiet spot for picnics or just watching the world go by beneath the lovely old beech trees, holly and yew.
