St Magnus Cathedral
The Cathedral Church of St Magnus the Martyr was founded in 1137 by Earl Rognvald Kolson and dedicated to his uncle, Earl Magnus Erlendson. Completed c.1500. It contains many items of interest and ranks as one of the finest cathedrals in Scotland. Organ by Willis 1926. Owned and maintained by Orkney Islands Council. Custodian on duty. Tours on application; tours of upper floors and tower must be booked. Over 12s only and under 16s must be accompanied £5.50 per person. Tours take place Tuedays and Thursdays throughout the year at 11:00am and 14:00pm.
St Magnus Centre in Palace Road open Monday to Saturday 8.30am-6.30pm. Sunday 1.30-6.30pm (reduced hours in winter); heritage centre, study library, refreshments and souvenirs; free entry.

Open April to September, Monday to Saturday 9.00am-6.00pm, Sunday 1.00-6.00pm; October to March, Monday to Saturday 9.00am-1.00pm and 2.00-5.00pm.
