Scotland's first dedicated, national centre for architecture and design, was opened in July 1999. The Lighthouse is the renamed, conversion of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's Glasgow Herald newspaper office. Our vision is to develop the links between design, architecture, and the creative industries, seeing these as interconnected social, educational, econimic and cultural issues of concern to everyone.
