Fisher Studio and Gallery

Fisher Studio and Gallery Image

This Scottish Art Gallery is the home of artists Jan Fisher, John Fisher, and Anna Fisher. It is situated in the picturesque fishing village of Pittenweem, in the East Neuk of Fife, near the historic town of St. Andrews. This part of Scotland is now home to many artists, for whom the coastal scenery, looking south to the Bass Rock and the Isle of May, is a rich source of inspiration. The Pittenweem Arts Festival is held in August each year and attracts thousands of visitors. The Fisher Studio & Gallery changes the exhibition every couple of months, showing a diversity of work mainly by Scottish based artists and craft-workers, and promoting the work of promising new artists.

John runs the gallery and the picture framing workshop. A large selection of picture mouldings is stocked, & hand finished frames are a speciality. Jan has her studio in the building, and shows new work in most exhibitions. She also exhibits widely throughout Scotland. Jan lived for many years in the West Highlands, & is known for her paintings of the west coast, especially the white shell-sand beaches of Iona. The ever-changing play of sparkling sunlight & cloud shadow on the Firth of Forth provides a new source of inspiration. Anna Fisher is their daughter, and she is rapidly making a name for herself as a talented artist. She works in oils, watercolours and acrylics and collage. Anna is known for her energetic handling of the paint and strong sense of colour .

Regular exhibitors include: Francis Boag, George Birrell, Mairi Clark, Fiona Clark, Anna Fisher, Jan Fisher, James Fraser, Liz McCarthy, Sheila Mitchell, Garry Brown, Paul Marley.
