The CatStrand, community & arts centre

Situated in the centre of the region, The CatStrand is Dumfries & Galloway’s newest arts, community and visitor information centre. Programmed and managed by Glenkens Community and Arts Trust, The CatStrand takes its name from the small stream that ran through it, and now under the building. The venue incorporates a number of energy efficient and renewable energy components and has been named as ‘Scotlands Greenest Arts Venue’
The CatStrand offers a year round programme of theatre, music, comedy, storytelling, exhibitions, films and community events. It is also a hub for visitor information on places to visit and things to do in the area, including local walks and wildlife. The CatStrand is the home of the History Stop, a focal point to discover the heritage of The Glenkens and a signpost to various sites of local historical interest.
Other facilities include; free internet access, refreshments and a shop selling a selection of crafts from local artists and makers.
