Getting there from the Information Centre

Follow A93 east from Banchory town centre towards Aberdeen. After 0.5 mile turn left onto A980 (Raemoir Road). Continue for 2.2 miles then turn left at T-junction staying on the A980. Another 4.8 miles will bring you to the centre of Torphins. At the crossroads turn right onto B993, Platform 22 is 150 meters further on the right-hand side. Alternatively take Stagecoach Service 201 or 202 from Banchory High Street to Torphins (check with driver that service goes via Torphins!).

Getting There by Car

Torphins is situated 23 miles due west of Aberdeen at the crossroads of the A980 (Banchory-Alford road) and the B993 (Kincardine O’Neil-Inverurie road). It is 2.8 miles north of the main A93 Deeside road at Kincardine O’Neil and 7.7 miles from Banchory. Inverurie, on the main A96 Inverness-Aberdeen road, is 19 miles to the north east and Alford 14 miles to the north west. Torphins is well signposted from the A93 (Aberdeen-Braemar-Perth road) to the south and the B9119 (Aberdeen-Tarland road) and A944 (Aberdeen-Alford-Strathdon road) to the north. Platform 22 is 150 meters north east of the central crossroads and roadside signs are visible from the crossroads!

Getting There by Railway

Aberdeen Train Station is the closest railway station, approximately 23 miles from Platform 22, with connections north to Inverness and south to Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. Car hire is available from central Aberdeen. By car follow the signs for A93 (Deeside Tourist Route) and on reaching Banchory (17 miles) turn right onto A 980 (Raemoir Road). Continue for 2.2 miles then turn left at T-junction staying on the A980. Another 4.8 miles will bring you to the centre of Torphins. At the crossroads turn right onto B993, Platform 22 is 150 meters further on the right-hand side. Alternatively, from the adjacent Guild Street Bus Depot catch Stagecoach Service 201,202 or 210 to Torphins (check with driver that service goes via Torphins!).

Getting there by Aeroplane

Aberdeen Airport is the closest airport, approximately 22 miles by car/taxi from Platform 22, with connections throughout the UK and Europe. Car hire is available at the airport. The shortest route goes cross-country following A96 towards Inverness; 3 miles from the airport turn left on to the B979. Continue for 5.7 miles through Kirkton of Skene across the A944 to the B9119. Turn right onto the B9119 and then after 9.9 miles turn left onto B993. Crossing Learney Hill head down into Torphins, Platform 22 is on the left 150 meters before the central crossroads. Alternatively take public transport (bus, train or taxi) to Guild Street Bus Depot/Aberdeen Train Station and then catch Stagecoach Service 201,202 or 210 to Torphins (check with driver that service goes via Torphins!).

Getting There by Ferry

Aberdeen Ferry Terminal is the closest port, approximately 23.5 miles from Platform 22, with a service to Orkney and Shetland. Car hire is available from central Aberdeen. By car follow the signs for A93 (Deeside Tourist Route) and on reaching Banchory (17 miles) turn right onto A 980 (Raemoir Road). Continue for 2.2 miles then turn left at T-junction staying on the A980. Another 4.8 miles will bring you to the centre of Torphins. At the crossroads turn right onto B993, Platform 22 is 150 meters further on the right-hand side.
