Artists’ Trail in the Park - Findhorn
The Artists' Trail in the Park brings together five Findhorn-based artists, two watercolour painters, a potter, a weaver, and a photographer. All the artists open their studios for craft demonstrations and sales throughout the year. The Moray Art Centre, also a member of the Trail, offers major local and international art exhibitions as well as art education through its programme of workshops & classes.
As well as craft demonstrations, the artists also hold exhibitions and workshops through the year, giving visitors the opportunity to get involved in their crafts, and enjoy the range of activities on offer in the beautiful area of Findhorn.
The Artists on the Trail offer a warm welcome to all visitors, whether local, national or international and they are always happy to share, demonstrate and talk about their work.
A truly enjoyable day out where as well as visiting the Trail, you will have the opportunity to explore the ambience of the Park and Findhorn village which offers Cafes, Shops, Pubs and a beautiful beach.
All five artists have open studios in The Park that you are welcome to visit. Maps and studio opening times are available in the Artists’ Trail in the Park Brochure available throughout Scotland and the website – www.artists-trail.com
The Moray Art Centre, which is at the cutting edge of ecological and environmental building design, offers opportunities for major local and international art exhibitions in Moray, thanks to its museum-quality exhibition space. The Centre is the first and only flexible-use venue for visual arts, art education and exhibitions in the wider Moray area. The facilities of the Centre include a gallery space for art by community groups, young people and local artists and a Young Person’s Studio. The Centre includes two teaching classrooms and four Artist’s Studios, impressive spaces available for hire on a short and long-term basis.
The Findhorn Pottery – The Pottery’s ceramics are tactile, sensual and a visual delight, with many of their own glaze recipes reflecting the colours of the Moray coast and moorlands. Domestic pottery, tableware, mugs, quaiches, angels, nature spirits, flowing figures and sculptural pots, are a small sample of their extensive range.
Jonathan Wheeler - Jonathan’s vivid style of watercolour painting expresses his passion for the beauty of the Highlands and its architectural heritage. He has settled in the Highlands, living in an ecological house at Findhorn on the Moray Firth where he has his studio. He exhibits his paintings in galleries around Scotland.
Henrietta Rose - Her paintings combine her love of plants with her life-long passion for birds. While her main focus is watercolours, her studio also includes wooden bowls, cheese boards, cards, and other crafts she makes. She exhibits regularly at local and national outlets and galleries selling both prints and original watercolours.
The Findhorn Weaving Studio is the home of the world renowned Sunrise Panels, which are produced on their 230 year old dobby flying shuttle loom. The luminous design of their woven wall panels is treasured as a focal point in meditation rooms, healing centres and private homes. Besides the wall panels, there are displays of various handwovens produced by local craftspeople.
Adriana Bijman - a photographer who is continually discovering the beauty of nature and human beings and passing it on through her photographs. She exhibits photo-installations and has published several books. She has a wide range of products and her main themes are Scottish nature, flowers, gardens and the Findhorn community-life; all in her own strong colourful style.
The Artists’ Trail offers a complete Day Out experience. During your tour of the Park, visit the Blue Angel Café adjoining the Universal Hall, for teas, coffees, snacks and lunches. The Phoenix Stores is one of the UK’s best stocked organic food shops as well as selling books, gifts, music and crafts including some of the work of the trail artists. The Universal Hall hosts a year round programme of music, theatre, film and dance from around the world. You could combine an event with the Artists’ Trail. Pick up a Good Gig Guide for coming events.
