Celtic Park

Celtic Park lies in the Bridgeton/Parkhead district of Glasgow, approximately 2 miles east of the city centre.
The stadium is simply massive and dominates the skyline across the east end. Originally built in 1892, Celtic Park was extensively redeveloped in the late 1980s and '90s to create the biggest football stadium in the UK. It is currently capable of seating just over 60,000, although this is still well short of the record attendance set in 1938 when 92,000 crammed in to watch a match against the team's arch-rivals, Rangers.
The Stands
The ground comprises four main seating areas: the North, West, and East Stands - which all emerged from the redevelopment - and the original South Stand (Main Stand). The stadium is totally enclosed, with the North, West and East stands being two-tiered.
Seating an incredible 26,971 fans and hosting 18 executive boxes and a restaurant, the North Stand is, in fact, the largest in Britain, towering over twice the height of the Main Stand opposite. The East Stand (also known as The Lisbon Lions Stand) incorporates a further 24 boxes in between its two tiers and was only completed in 1996, with the West Stand (aka the Jock Stein Stand) being finished the following year; both hold around 13,000. The upper tiers of the new stands do have a few supporting pillars which may obstruct your view, although the club do provide reduced-price tickets for the affected seats. An unusual feature of the Main Stand is its large roof, the front part of which is transparent in order to keep the pitch in good condition.
Away fans are traditionally allocated the lower corner of the East. The views of the playing action and the facilities provided within this stand are excellent.
Accolades
Celtic Park has won several awards in recent years including the accolade of being Britain's 'Best Loved Sports Building' and is one of only five in the UK to be commended for its disabled access. A revamp of its facilities has recently been announced which will bring the stadium up to the coveted five-star standard that will allow it to receive the ultimate compliment - hosting a European final.
Awesome Atmosphere
But if the stadium is impressive, it is nothing compared to the electric atmosphere generated by the passion and fervour of the fans who fill the ground to capacity for every home games. European ties in particular bring out the best in Celtic fans - recently voted Europe's best by UEFA following the club's Euro run last season - and it's guaranteed that the noise and passion generated on these nights at Celtic Park will be unlike anything else you will experience at any other football match - anywhere. As Celtic midfielder, Neil Lennon described it following his first experience of a European tie at Celtic Park: 'Sixty thousand people singing and lifting their scarves up - the noise was just something else. The hairs on the back of my neck were standing up...'.
