Lochranza Field Studies Centre

Located in the northern part of the Isle of Arran the Loch Ranza Field Study Centre provides a unique and spectacular location for field studies for pupils aged from around 10 to 18 years. It specialises in offering courses in geography, geology, biology and environmental science for all school examination boards. Lochranza village has a background of fishing, crofting and hill sheep farming, with more recent interest in deer farming and summer visitors. The local wildlife includes red deer, seals, peregrine falcons, eider ducks, gannets, fulmars and much more - the most spectacular resident is, however, the golden eagle with one of Arran's two pairs nesting within sight of the centre. Groups arrive on a Saturday and depart the following Friday.
