Kinrossie Carriages has been formed by Austin Compson-Bradford after retiring from the Army and having a lifetime interest in horses and enjoying every minute of it, along with his 4 daughters who all ride their own ponies and compete at pony club.
This is very much a family business with the aim of passing on the pleasure to be gained from horses and carriages to a wider group. This is a bygone era which slows the pace of life and allows you to enjoy the beautiful Perthshire countryside, in harmony.
The Horses -
The horses we use are predominately native breeds, from Pip a small mixed native pony with bags of character, who not only pulls a carriage but is also the pony which all my girls have learned to ride on; to the Highland Pony which is by far my favourite breed, a pony which is native to Scotland and although small, usually less than 15 Hands high, have great strength as they were the crofters workhorse and would pull carts, ploughs, and work in the forest, they were also the daily ridden horse.
They come in a wide variety of shades and colours from very light grey to almost black, with many dun shades. Their character is second to none as they are always willing to please and a pleasure to be with.
Fun Rides -
Why not just hire a carriage for a few hours and see the beautiful Perthshire countryside; get to know Scotland in the fresh air at a relaxed pace and with a style that the modern world just cannot provide. Enjoy your break and relax in Scotland’s most beautiful counties.
Days Out and Picnics -
Travelling for a day through the picturesque Perthshire countryside, and stopping at hill lochs and forests or on the banks of the River Tay. You will meet the horses and driver at 10 am, be driven on a carriage suitable for your number, either an open horse drawn farm wagon or the Victoriana for couples to the location of your choice, we will need to know the location in advance so that preparations for your picnic lunch can be made.
