THE VEGA ADVENTURES EXPERIENCE
Operating out of Tarbert in Loch Fyne,Vega Adventures is Scotland’s most exclusive skippered charter service. Carrying a maximum of two guests at any one time, we create uniquely crafted sailing tours to meet all of your requirements. We have set the highest of standards in both sailing and cuisine. We take the greatest pride in the quality of our food. Only the best of ingredients are used and our fantastic five course meal is a mixture of culinary delight. Our boat is a traditionally - rigged Albin Vega, famous in her own right and raced many times in the Solent. With Keith Patrick at the helm, Rough Diamond has operated as a cruising boat since 1998, but still turns out a good deal of speed whilst retaining excellent seagoing capability. She is a real sailor’s boat. We believe that sailing should be informal and enjoyable for people. Leave is precious and ought to be stress-free and fun. You are treated like one of the family for the entire duration of your stay with us.
TARBERT AND LOCH FYNE
We are moored at Tarbert marina within the harbour. This is well appointed with excellent shower and toilet facilities and a laundry close at hand. There are a comprehensive range of shops, pubs and restaurants within a ten - minute walk. There are many options available for overnight accommodation. These range from b+b’s to small hotels to a Victorian castle. Some of our guests choose to stay on board and enjoy the full escapism of a tour. We can arrange your accommodation for you or you can book yourself. You could book ahead to stay in a number of different locations and be taken to each one by boat.
In the local area there is much to see. Close by we have the spectacular Stonefield Castle which has it’s own moorings where we can happily make fast and take you for a drink, the Isle of Arran with the wonderful Lochranza and of course the Kyles of Bute. We can sail much further up Loch Fyne and tour the very beautiful Crinan canal. For those of you who love the scenery but not the motion then this is the tour for you. This winter(2007) we are also offering tours of the Caledonian Canal between Fort William and Inverness. ACTIVITIES
The wild life in the Loch Fyne area is plentiful. The whole area is very sparsely populated and the scope for wild life to flourish is plentiful. We have personally had many encounters with Dolphins and while this cannot be guaranteed it is not unusual for us to meet with them during a tour. For those wanting to take in a spot of fishing we are more than happy for you to do so. If you would like us to cook a fresh catch for you in then reel it in and leave the rest to us. There are always moments to relax and listen to some music on board. Feel free to bring your own. For those of you with a love of the stars, what better way to see them than on a night sail where, free from light pollution, the sky explodes into life? If you would like a short video of your stay then we can produce this and send you a DVD in the post.
