Abair Spors, hunting/shooting/fishing trips
Abair Spors organises trips from Edinburgh to sporting estates in Perthshire and Royal Deeside for hunting, shooting and fishing from May to end of October. The activities are led by experienced game keepers or ghillies.
Equipment and instruction for beginners is provided. Target practice takes place before shooting and stalking. The shooting is for walked up game and a catch and release system is operated for salmon fishing.
Designed for parties of two to six people. Tailored activities for larger parties can also be organised.
Departing Edinburgh at 8am by landrover and arriving at 10am to walk through estate to all day red deer stalking, shooting or salmon fishing. An excellent picnic lunch is provided at around 1pm. Returning to Edinburgh between 6pm and 8pm. For stalking roe deer it is an early start at first light (around 4.30am) and continues untl 11.30am. Exellent picnic breakfast at around 8am. An overnight stay is required.
Hunting season
Stag: 1 July to 20 October
Hind: 21 October to 15 February
Roe Buck: 1 April to 20 October
Doe: 21 October to 31 March
Shooting season
Grouse: 12 August to 10 December
Pheasant: 1 October to 1 February
Partridge: 1 September to 1 February
Fishing season
Salmon: 15 January to 15 October
The actual availability of these sports varies between estates and depends on weather conditions, movement of animals and breeding. Abair Spors runs trips from May to end of October.
For those not wishing to take part in sport but want to travel with those who do £50-£100 at the discretion of Abair Spors.
