Sealife Adventures

Sealife Adventures

Sealife Adventures provides dolphin, bird and whale watching boat trips from the mainland near Oban, Argyll.

We see porpoises, minke whales, basking sharks, dolphins, seals, puffins, otters, deer, golden and white tailed sea eagles. The abundance of fish found in the Firth of Lorn Special Area of Conservation provides rich feeding which also attracts seabirds, such as puffins and gannets, as well as many other 'rarities', including skuas, petrels, and occasionally divers. We often encounter feeding frenzies, where hundreds of seabirds plunge into the sea, as fish are driven to the surface by whales, dolphins and porpoise feeding below.

Large herds of red deer inhabit the islands, having once swum here from the mainland. There is also a small herd of fallow deer, and we often see both these species and also feral goats, feeding close to the shore. High above eagles and falcons soar overhead. This area enjoys the highest population density of golden eagles anywhere in Europe, and is also home to the magnificent white-tailed sea eagle, which lives and hunts along the coasts of these beautiful islands.

Along the shore we see common and grey seals, basking on their favourite haul outs, and otters are not uncommon too.

We operate two hour trips to the Corryvreckan Whirlpool, three hour trips to the Corryvreckan and the Garvellach Islands, four hour trips landing on the Holy Isle and five hour cruises for offshore whale watching.

Our boat, Porpoise II, has nearly 900 horse power and is the most powerful charter boat in Scotland. Based on the stable Revenge 38, she is designed with your comfort and safety in mind. We provide hot drinks and biscuits throughout your journey, and have onboard toilet facilities. We also provide binoculars free of charge for your use.

Your skipper, David Ainsley has a degree in Marine Biology, and is an award-winning underwater photographer. He holds RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and HSE first aid qualifications. Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable wildlife spotter will look after all your comforts, and provide commentary on the wildlife and wild places we encounter.

We aim to make your trip the highlight of your holiday.
