Sealife Adventures - Images

The Firth of Lorn Special Area of Conservation is an area of outstanding beauty, of uninhabited islands with dramatic sea-cliffs. Rich feeding grounds, make this area a hot spot for sighting whales, dolphins, eagles, otters, basking sharks and a variety of other wildlife.

Rich feeding grounds make the Firth of Lorn a great area for Minke whales.

Harbor Porpoise

We are lucky to have one of the best sightings areas for porpoise in Britain. In the summer, the young calves stay close to mum.

Bottlenose Dolphins

There is a well studied population that visit this area. Their acrobatic stunts are fun to see.

Basking Shark

The third largest fish in the sea, these sharks can filter an Olympic sized swimming pool of water every hour.

Seals

Common seal pups are born just in time for school holidays. The fluffy white grey seal pups are born in the autumn.

Otters frequent the sheltered shorelines.

White-tailed eagles

On the vast majority trips we see sea eagles - the local pair have produced chicks for the past four years.

Golden Eagles

Our five hour trips visits two golden eagle territories. The one shown in the picture is a young juvenile we’ve seen growing up.

Puffins

These comical auks can live up to 33 years old and can hold up to 112 sand eels in their colorful beaks.

Deer

We can see three species of deer on the isles. The red deer stags will even swim from isle to isle in search of females.

Feral Goats

These wild goats are a delight to see along the coast eating kelp.

Seabirds

This is an exceptional feeding ground for a variety of seabirds. Feeding seabirds are great indicators for whales.
